BIOGRAPHY
Growing up in South London, SHAKBAK was exposed to the Underground Scene in his early teens. He soon found himself surrounded by likeminded producers and musicians that were keen on starting a new movement in the area of electronic music; shying away from the variety of commercial material we hear today. At the age of 8 SHAKBAK started to delve into the world of classical music.
Playing in small orchestras such as the London Wind Youth Band, perfecting his technique through the repertoire he was given. After going on to secondary school he began partaking in Piano and Drum-kit lessons. Soon enough through his fast progression, he was brought on to play with the schools Steel band, Choir, Orchestra, Samba band and his most admired jazz band. SHAKBAK quickly built a foundation of techniques needed to progress in his career as a musician. This has since shaped his sound to what it is today. Fusing genres prominent in his upbringing; House, Funk, Jazz, Classical and Hip-hop.
“SHAKBAK has brought a new light to the electronic music scene here in London, something we haven’t come across in a while” – Brixton Jam Club Owner. He hopes his input in the industry will start a new movement and show the general public a different side to music.
Latest release’s “Make A Scene” and “Forgotten Outside” has gained SHAKBAK repute with producers and labels from London, Bulgaria, Germany, Ukraine and France. Collaborations with Neo Soul bassist Purple Lychee will bring us a variety of releases lined up with Leeds based Artist collective “Zoko” and SHAKBAK’s own “Janky Sounds”.
Involving himself with Radio 1 in 2015 and Leeds Student Radio in September 2016, SHAKBAK looks forward to upcoming shows that are soon to come. Receiving news of invites to fly to Dubai/Berlin in the New Year for more events to come.
With the stamp he has made so far during 2016, word spreads of highly anticipated releases to come in the New Year. SHAKBAK promises to have his fans in awe throughout his performances and as they part their ways with songs he describes "will take you on the spiritual journey with him".
